Alan Kalmanoff, Executive Director of the Institute for Law & Policy Planning, will speak to a joint meeting of the Burlingame and San Mateo Rotary Clubs about assessing complex public policy issues in order to provide recommendations on improving entire justice systems. He will focus in particular on planning a new correctional facility in San Mateo County. |

Dermatologist Dr. Peter Webb and Physician Assistant Hilary Johnson will discuss common skin problems, new innovations, and the good and bad of home remedies. Dr. Webb began his career as a biochemist at Princeton, trained in medicine at Miami, and trained in dermatology at UCSF, where he's on the clinical faculty. Three years ago, he joined the California Skin Institute in San Mateo. His Physician Assistant daughter Hilary, who trained at Stanford, is also a member of the practice. They provide skin scare for all ages along with cosmetic treatments. |

Dr. Kevin Skelly will be speaking about the teacher shortage in California, SMUHSD efforts to build teacher housing, and other updates from the High School District. Dr. Kevin Skelly, Ph.D., began his career working for a program serving talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds in Washington D.C. Skelly was also a high school Math and Spanish teacher. In 1993, he began an 11-year stretch as principal at Saratoga High School in Santa Clara County. From 2004-2007, he was Associate Superintendent of the Poway Unified School District followed by seven years as the Superintendent of the Palo Alto Unified School District. Dr. Skelly graduated from Harvard University with honors and a degree in Economics and completed his Ph.D. in Education Policy and Administration at the University of California, Berkeley. Skelly lives in San Mateo with his wife. They have four grown children. |
