History of the San Francisco Airport Author of "Wings of the Phoenix."

Don Shoecraft is a journalist and writer with more than 40 years’ experience writing news, opinion and communications for newspapers, corporate clients, public agencies and nonpro ts. He has been active in the Peninsula community for many years and has served on numerous community boards, including Community Gatepath, the Child Care Coordinating

Council, the San Mateo Police Activities League and several chambers of commerce. He is also past president of the San Mateo Rotary Club. He retired in 2015, then unretired to become founding editor and lead writer for Redwood City’s Climate Magazine, retired again in 2017, then unretired for the most recent time this January to create an association with printers whose services he’d purchased for 25 years. He merged MTK Communications, his company, with Productive Printing and Alpha Press to form Essential Printing Associates, which provides digital and o set printing in addition to resources for clients in many disciplines, from video to advertising to web.

He is author of four o cially commissioned histories, Purple Cow to Purple Qumquat, the centennial history of the San Francisco Boys and Girls Club, Born of Fire, the history of the City of Brisbane, Crossroads Community, the history of the City of San Bruno and Wings of the Phoenix, History of San Francisco International Airport, which is the subject of Wednesday’s presentation.
