Pledge and Invocation

This was the annual Little Big Game Luncheon. For the second year the Lion’s Club of Burlingame hosted the Little Big Game luncheon at their quaint clubhouse in Washington Park.  President Mike got to sit in the back and do nothing.

We were first treated to the BHS fight song performed by a contingent from the Burlingame High band and the cheerleading squad.  The players, who are now seniors, joined us for lunch and the program as did some of the song girls.

Pledge & Invocation:  A Lion lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  This was followed by another member leading us in singing God Bless America and an invocation.

Visiting Rotarians & Guests:  Introductions were made.  Principal Paul Belzer, a member of our club and the coach of the Burlingame football team (insert name?).  Pierre Bouquet was recognized as the “oldest” alum in attendance.

Program

Lion's Club President, Kwang Park, moved right into the guest speakers as BHS students needed to be back on campus.  Three Burlingame High School alumni addressed the players.  They had all played football for the school and participated in a number of Little Big Games.  The first was Craig Storek a member of the class of ’66.  He was followed by a local cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Mike Glafkides.  The good doctor graduated in 1974.  The final speaker came all the way from Los Angeles where he runs a software company.  Mark Alioto was part of the class of 1980.  All three spoke passionately about the game and their memories of those legendary games. They wished the players in the audience the best of luck as they faced San Mateo High School in this annual face-off.

Lion Club President Kwang Park thanked all who contributed to this event.  He then adjourned the meeting.
