Italian Student Exchange Luncheon

There was no pledge of allegiance to the flag at today's luncheon.

It was very exciting to be invited as guests of honor to Burlingame High School's Alumnae Room to  to sit down for lunch with students and visiting Italian students, courtesy of Sapore Restaurant, Burlingame as a thank you to our club for supporting the exchange progam.

A great time was held by all....

President Mike and Italian Students

Twenty-one Burlingame Rotarians representing our club gathered in the Alumnae Room at Burlingame High School to welcome the 40 Italian students from Capri, Italy, who were part of a student exchange program. Later this school year 40 Burlingame High School students will be traveling to Italy thanks to Past President Stan Moore's connections. A sumptuous lunch of authentic Italian fare was served up by Sapore Restaurant.

The students and Rotarians were welcomed by Rotarian and Burlingame High School Principal Paul Belzer. President Mike Horwitz said a few words and introduced club members who had played a part in our participation with the Italian Exchange Program.

Principal Belzer and Antonella Wemple, Teacher

Antonella Wemple, the Italian teacher at Burlingame High School, was the coordinator of this program. She recognized BHS parent group and the Italian Exchange Booster Organization. Antonella invited two of the student representatives, one from the incoming Italian group and one for the outgoing Burlingame High School group, to come forward.

The young lady from Italy thanked our Club and presented President Mike Horwitz with a lovely hardbound book of her City of Carpi. Of course, it is written in Italian.....so good luck reading it, Mike.
