James Reid discusses his Documentary Film 'Minutes to Die.'
May 09, 2018 12:15 p.m.
The documentary, "Minutes to Die", reveals the under-discussed reality of snakebite. In 26 months, the well-publicized Ebola crisis took as many lives as snakebite does in just one month, every month. The 62-minute film was written and directed by James Reid, and narrated by Mike Rowe. "Minutes to Die" travels around the globe to uncover the harsh reality facing snakebite victims and families. A global health crisis unknown to the world. |

May 09, 2018 12:15 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
James Reid, Documentary Film Director will share 'Minutes to Die' his film on global snake poisoning. 125,000 lives are lost following the sudden, unfortunate interaction between farmers, children and homemakers and the venomous snake merely looking for water inside a thatched home or helping the farmer by devouring crop destroying rodents. Some 400,000 people each year will suffer their own form of long-term misery – perhaps an amputation or disfigured limb. Victims are shunned. Marriage for young girls becomes unlikely. Costs for treatment force families to sell of what little they own. Years or a lifetime of debt to pay for medicines, hospital costs or long term wound care exist in virtually every snakebite endemic country. Some have called snakebite an “additional penalty of poverty”. Fascinating story you wont want to miss.
he World Premiere of this Documentary took place in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. |

Debunking...need we say more?
Jun. 20, 2018 12:15 p.m.
At the end of every Presidency comes 'The Debunking' - a chance for Burlingame Rotary members to reduce the inflated reputaion of our President for July 2017- June 2018. The debunking meeting is one of the favorite meetings of the year when comedy takes a delight in delighting in the embarassment of our President Mike Horwitz. As every past president of our club can attest - this is the funnest meeting of the year.
