New President Mary Murphy introduced the new Board of Directors. This year's Rotary theme was determined to be "Light Up, Rotary." The Scholarship Raising Golf Tournament will be in October and sponsorships are still available.

An England quiz raised a few bucks and the Debunking team provided entertainment. President Mary left her notes unprotected on the podium and Ted Kruttschnitt grabbed the opportunity to take them and shred them. President Mary introduced us to her friend, Betsy Koefoed, who told us some things about Rotary.

Meeting Date: Monday, July 14, 2013
Meeting Place: Hilton SFO Burlingame, CA 94010
President: Mary Murphy
This Week’s Reporter/Editor: Scott Hartley
Greeting Table: Jay Plank, Cheryl Young, Di Yim

President All Year (!!!!): Mary Murphy

Invocation: Vidal Graupera gave our year’s first invocation with wishes for a peaceful and fun year by reciting the Rotary approved words for a new executive. Our Immediate Past President John Delaney started our Pledge.

Announcements: New President Mary Murphy came in to great fanfare (and a mighty “Hear Ye!” from crier Jim Shypertt) with theme music that requested divine interventions for the protection of our new “queen.” We all may be looking for heavenly assistance by August. Mary introduced our new Board of Directors, a brave and good group. This year’s Rotary theme is “Light Up, Rotary.” (Fritz Brauner reports that the Mendocino Rotary Club is taking the theme to new more mellow levels.)

The Debunking Team was thanked again for a great show. Written by Dennis Zell, produced by Mark Johnson, and starring a solid ensemble cast, the Debunking provided a royally fine time.

In a classic rookie bonehead move, Prez Mary left her notes unprotected on the podium while Ted Kruttschnitt was in the room. Said notes were taken and shredded…another case of Ted just being Ted. Aside to Mary: Ted messing with an incoming President is about as “unexpected” as a lonely dentist in England. There have been 90 Burlingame
Rotary Presidents and then along came Mary. Hopefully there will be a President after her as well. President Mary thanked many of the past Presidents for their service. Specifically NOT thanked for service included Ted and your humble scribe.

An England quiz raised a few bucks. It looks like we are going to learn way more about the former empire than we may want. Remember people, we kicked royal butt about 240 years ago and we can do it again if we need to. Vidal joined Mary’s President’s Club.

Our Scholarship Raising Golf Tournament is in October at Peninsula Golf & Country Club. Sponsorships are still available. Contact Mike Horwitz and join in the fun so we can help as many students as possible.

Jim Shypertt provided the Sunshine Report and joyfully announced that his camera’s battery is back and in great shape. (Good news for the HG staff!)

Program and Speaker: Prez Mary introduced us to her friend, Betsy Koefoed. Betsy told us about Rotary just in case any of us were curious. Betsy gave us a helpful list of what’s good about Rotary that included: 1. President Mary; 2. Women; 3. Wheelchairs; 4. Schools; 5. Soccer fields; 6. Bumperstickers; and 7. Jesus (the guy Rotary helped in Mazatlan).

Visiting Rotarians/Guest of The Club: We had a few guests from San Carlos and San Mateo.

Upcoming Programs:
July 21: Bert Upson – Life After 9/11
July 28: Special Surprise!
