Don’t Miss This

Jay Miller highlighted an article in the November issue of the Rotary magazine. He featured the fantastic essay, authored by Charlene Drummer and Jeff Krolik, on our recent grants to digitize schools for girls living in poor remote villages in India.

President Doug reminded us of the bet into which he and Dennis Zell entered. Dennis’s alma mater, UCLA was playing Doug’s alma mater, Nebraska, in the Rose Bowl. The agreement was that whosever team lost that individual would sing the fight song of the winning team. Since Nebraska beat UCLA, we were treated to Dennis singing “Hail Varsity”

Program:

Members of the BHS Interact Club informed Rotarians about their recent service projects and activities. And to support their efforts, Jennifer Pence led an auction. The Interactors offered tasks and homemade goodies that could be purchased. Jennifer had an array of items from gift cards to holiday items. Rotarians were very generous and Interact raised over $800.

Rotarian and Burlingame High School Principal Jen Fong took the mic to thank our Rotary Club for our long-term support of the student exchange program with Udine, Italy. Students shared their experiences hosting Italian exchange students.

She then introduced students who had accompanied her as they represented the US at an International Summit on AI in schools in Naples, Italy. The conference included potential uses in education and the need for policies on AI in schools.

When Giving Thanks Can Be Both Sacred and Secular
When Giving Thanks Can Be Both Sacred and Secular

As we approach Thanksgiving 2025, a season that invites reflection and gratitude, our Rotary Club welcomes a special program led by three of our clergy members. Together, they will share insights on gratitude and grace — two timeless values that connect people of all faiths and spiritual traditions, whether Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, or others.

Join us for an inspiring session that will “set the table” for the season — a heartfelt conversation to nurture our spirits and remind us of the power of thankfulness as we gather with family, friends, and community.
