President Doug Person called our meeting to order and with a little prompting, asked Mike Heffernan to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. This was followed by the invocation. Bobba Venkatadri related the words of a famous guru to the Rotary mission.

One of our spiritual Gurus once said that there is “only one religion, the religion of love….There is only one caste, the caste of humanity” His mantra was “ unconditional love towards everyone, Love all., Serve all, Help ever: Hurt never

Love is the strongest antidote for greed. This therefore is the fundamental spiritual discipline-“give love and receive love” The World is open to people of all faiths and countries. “Unity is strength, Diversity is divine”. All religions built to train the heart in compassion. Spirituality, when practiced selflessly, could become the most powerful agent of social change. The future of faith is inclusive, responsible and strong.

Christine Krolik introduced our speaker, former Burlingame Rotarian Mark Lucchesi.

He has hosted over 130 episodes of his podcast, "Mark at the Mic," featuring community leaders and residents, and has a strong connection to the town's history. The Burlingame is a Small Town podcast, which has interviewed over 130 community members and has generated 30,000 “views”.

Mark shared his journey from a broadcast journalism graduate to a successful grocery business owner and eventually to creating the Mark at the Mic podcast. He discussed his experiences in the grocery industry, including working at Cappuccino Market, Petrini’s Markets, and Mollie Stone's, before retiring and deciding to start a podcast to stay connected to the community.

Mark explained how he learned about podcasting through a Stanford class.

He emphasized the importance of listening and building relationships in his work and highlighted the stories he has collected from various community members.

The Age of AI: Implications for Communities
The Age of AI: Implications for Communities

We've entered the 'Intelligence Revolution’, and AI is fundamentally reshaping service delivery for community-based organizations. More than half of local nonprofits operate on budgets of $1M or less, and they risk being left behind by a widening digital divide. The question isn't whether AI will transform the nonprofit sector; it's whether they will lead that transformation or be replaced by it.
