President Joe La Mariana called our inaugural in person meeting to order. Twenty-seven members and guests were in the room at Green Hills Country Club. Another seven members joined us via Zoom.
Pledge of Allegiance: Visiting Rotarian Assistant District Governor, Matteo Rizzo led us in the pledge.
Invocation: Pastor Paul Watermulder began his thoughts by noting that the name Irene comes from the Greek Eirene meaning Peace. A good thought for the first day of Lent and the current geopolitical conflicts going on. Paul moved on to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse from the Book of Revelations. For his full invocation watch the video of the meeting.
Guests of the Club: Our speaker Luanne Carlomagno and her guest, Don Geddis. Also joining us was our Asst. DG Matteo Rizzo from the So San Francisco Club.
Sunshine Report: President Joe announced that our member, Pierre Bouquet, was having health issues and not doing well. We wish him well.

Newscast + After some fellowship, President Joe turned the mic over to Jennifer Pence. She informed us that there is indeed a relevant National Holiday – National Old Stuff Day. If you would like to learn about the unique “old stuff” that fellow Rotarians have been hoarding watch the meeting video.
Program: In the absence of Christine Krolik, Marilyn Orr introduced our speaker, LouAnn Carlomagno, Hillsborough Schools Superintendent. She brought us up to date on the challenges facing educators in these difficult times, and what gives her reason for optimism.
