April 17 Recap
Our next meeting will be a social meeting on Wednesday, April 24 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Poplar Creek Bar.  Depending on the "conditions" the social will be inside the bar or outside on the patio.   The club will be buy appetizers and the drinks are "no host".

The Rebuilding America Together Community Service Activity at Gatepath on Stanton Road will occur on Saturday, April 27.  This is an all-day event where our team will paint 8 rooms in the Gatepath facility.  Our team count is still a little short so we are still looking volunteers.  You, your high school age or older children, friends and family are invited to volunteer to participate.  If you or friends & family or going to volunteer, please email Cheryl Fama at cheryl.fama@peninsulahealthcaredistrict.org.

Let’s Review What Happened Last Week:

Last Wednesday Joe LaMariana told us about the different garbage sorting and recycling activities that he manages at the Shoreway Environmental Center in San Carlos.  Chris Ramirez was inducted into our club and presented his round badge by John Delaney.  We were joined by "guest of the club" Burlingame City Council Member Michael Brownrigg who is beginning the process to join our club.  Previous member and current Burlingame Rotary volunteer, Doug Winnett and his wife, Catherine also joined us.  Finally we also celebrated and serenaded Fritz Brauner on his birthday.

Rebuilding Together/Rebuilding Together Peninsula/Gatepath Initiative - Saturday, April 27:

Burlingame Rotary will be underwriting and taking the lead on a project at the Gatepath facility on Stanton Road that will be completed on National Rebuilding Day - Saturday, April 27th.  National Rebuilding Day, formerly known as Christmas in April, is a program coordinated by Rebuilding Together (www.rebuildingtogether.org) through its affiliate Rebuilding Together Peninsula (www.rebuildingtogetherpeninsula.org) where numerous projects are completed throughout the country.

Our project will be to paint 8 rooms in the Gatepath facility on Stanton Road and other refinishing activities.  We will be underwriting the cost of the materials.  Additionally, we will be organizing and providing the people to complete the project.  To complete this project it will take a team of at least 50 people.  Volunteers will gather at 8 AM, enjoy a continental breakfast, get a 'collector's item' commemorative T-Shirt and at around 9 AM, be assigned to a work team and get instructions.  Lunch is provided and all are invited to a thank you BBQ at Oracle Center 4:30PM.  Burlingame Rotary will be recruiting members to that team from our club, spouses, friends, colleagues from your workplace and students from local schools.

Our Community Service chairs, Cheryl Fama and Sheryl Young will be coordinating our efforts and the recruiting of team members.  Club members should have received an email invitation to participate.  Anyone (club member or non-member) who wants to volunteer can email Cheryl Fama at cheryl.fama@peninsulahealthcaredistrict.org or Sheryl Young at syoung@venturesfoundation.org.
