Ted Cheeseman leads expeditions—ecology safaris—to Antarctica, the Arctic, and the Caribbean. In addition to leading adventure trips, Ted is working on a Ph.D. on humpbacks at Southern Cross University, New South Wales, Australia. Ted will speak to us about whales around the world as well as about Happywhale, which engages citizens to identify marine mammals for science and fun. To date, Happywhale has had 259,162 photos submitted to their research database. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn more about these amazing creatures.

Carole Groom was elected to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors in June 2010, served as President of the Board in 2011 and 2015. Prior to Supervisor Groom’s appointment in 2009, she served nine years on the San Mateo City Council, including two terms as Mayor, and on the San Mateo Planning and Public Works Commissions.

 

Supervisor Groom’s legislative priorities include expanded access to quality preschool and literacy, improved access to healthcare for all, environmental protection, preservation of County’s parks, and growing the local economy. 

 

Carole serves on on Sam Trans, the County Hospital Board, Air Quality District and California Coastal Commission.

 

Prior to joining the Board of Supervisors Carole served as Vice President of Mills-Peninsula Health Services.
