August 8 Recap

Our next meeting is a lunch meeting at 12:15pm at Poplar Creek on August 15.  Our speaker will be Kevin Gardiner, Burlingame Community Development Manager, who will report on new developments in Burlingame including the old Drive-In office building development and the Post Office development.
 
I know these meetings in August are in the middle of the "Dog Days" of summer and many of you are out of town.  However, if you are not out of town I hope you will attend this meeting.  We have made a modest attendance guaranty (significantly less than half of the club's membership) to Poplar Creek.  However, we are having trouble meeting it.  So if you can be there, it would greatly appreciated.

Helping Redding:
 
I want to remind you that you can still help Redding as it deals with the aftermath of the Carr Fire.  In response to the Carr Fire, local Rotary Clubs are joining together to promote the Shasta Regional Community Foundation’s (SRCF) Community Disaster Relief Fund.  Please consider donating online at http://www.shastarcf.org/funds/cdrf.  Be sure to note #NorCalRotary in the notes section as you enter your donation. Burlingame on the Avenue:
 
There are Burlingame Rotary volunteer opportunities at Burlingame Chamber of Commerce's Burlingame on the Avenue Festival to be held August 18th and 19th.  Burlingame Rotarians will be staffing a food/drink booth from 2:30pm to 7:00pm on Saturday, August 18th and 10:30am to 2:30pm on Sunday, August 19th.  We are looking for at least 6 volunteers each day.  All tips go to the Service Fund.  To sign-up contact John Delaney at JDelaney@bostonprivatebank.com.
 
Our August Meetings:
 
August 15th - 12:15pm at Poplar Creek.  Our speaker will be Kevin Gardiner, the Community Development Manager for the City of Burlingame.  He will speak about the new developments being planned and built in our city including the Drive-In site and the old Post Office.
 
August 22nd - Social Evening at 5:00pm at Steelhead Brewery.
 
August 29th - 5th Wednesday.  We are dark.
 
Note we will also be dark the first Wednesday of September (September 5) due to Labor Day.
