Our next meeting is Wednesday, July 18th at 12:15pm at Poplar Creek.  Our speaker will be John McKnight who will talk about the Salvation Army’s disaster services.  Please join us to learn about this important topic.

Additionally, our new Membership Committee chair, Emily Matthews will be providing an update on committee plans and activities for the coming year.

Finally, we are getting close to our week-long exchange (week of July 22) with visitors from our Japanese sister club, Edogawa.   Details are at the end of this newsletter.

Let’s Review What Happened Last Week:

At our July 11th meeting, we had 21 Burlingame Rotarians sign up for my President's Club special.  If you sign-up and pay by July 31st, your cost to join the President's Club is only $100.  If you have yet to take advantage of this unbelievably good deal, please see our accounting team at the Welcome Desk at our next meeting.  Thank you to all 21 who signed up.  The rest of you be aware of those Rotary fines.

We also had an announcement from Past President Mike Horwitz regarding our major fundraiser, the October 1st Golf Tournament at Peninsula Country Club.  Sign-ups are being accepted for players and sponsorships are being solicited.  To sign-up as either a player or sponsor, see Mike or our golf tournament treasurer, Marilyn Orr at one of our next meetings.  In the near future, our web site will also be programmed to accept sign-ups.

Our speaker was Austin Carr, the son and grandson of Burlingame Rotarians.  He spoke about the trials and tribulations of becoming a stand-up comic.  He brought a few guests to the meeting - his grandmother, his father and of course his mother, President-Elect Cheri.   He paid tribute to his late grandfather, Dave Carr, with a short set of jokes that I am sure Dave would have appreciated.
